Decimals in action! ✏️ Ms. Ulmer’s 6th period students practiced adding decimal numbers while strengthening their understanding of place value. Also, notice the students seen wearing Mardi Gras beads; they have been noticed for exceptional work in her class!
Students used place-value charts and expanded form to see the value behind each digit—recognizing that every number has a place and a purpose. By learning to line up decimal points correctly and understand ones, tenths, hundredths, and thousandths, students are building a strong foundation for success with decimal operations rather than just memorizing.
⭐️A great way to support learning at home is to ask your child about the value of digits in a decimal number. For example, in 8.56, ask: “What is the value of the 5? What is the value of the 6?” Understanding why the math works is just as important as knowing the steps!
