Dr. Tawater is excited to continue fostering a culture of academic excellence at BVMS and ensuring that every student is supported in their learning and growth. Her leadership, dedication to students, and commitment to the Bayou View community make her a great fit for this role.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Tawater when you see her around the Gulfport Admiral and BVMS Viking community! 🎉

We were so excited to welcome our fifth-grade students who are zoned to attend BVMS next year, along with their families, to explore all the amazing opportunities waiting for them. The energy in the building was contagious as prospective students met our teachers and began imagining themselves as middle schoolers.
Families learned about the incredible elective programs that make BVMS such a special place to grow and discover new passions. From band and strings to art, dance, and choir… from robotics and Spanish to Quest and physical education… there truly is something for everyone. Our students will have so many opportunities to explore their interests, uncover new talents, and build confidence in and out of the classroom.
We cannot wait to welcome this amazing group of future Vikings to BVMS next year. The future is bright, and it starts here!

Who says science can’t feel like the Winter Olympics?
Our 6th-grade scientists took on the sport of curling as part of a hands-on friction lab, and it was a hit! Mrs. Lee brought this creative idea to life, and the students were all in from the very first slide.
Students tested their “curling stones” on different surfaces to see how friction impacted motion. They experimented with:
• Laminated board
• Aluminum foil
• Felt
• Regular poster board
The goal? Figure out which surface created the most friction and which allowed their stone to glide the farthest — all while making predictions, collecting data, and having a blast.
It’s learning like this that makes science stick (and slide 😉). Huge shoutout to Mrs. Lee for turning a physics concept into an unforgettable experience for our students!

Transportation, classes, and extracurricular activities will run as scheduled. Families should allow extra time for travel, dress warmly, and prioritize safety.
We will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any changes.
